Final Project
The goal of this assignment is to provide you with the opportunity to investigate and share your findings on a current societal issue in conjunction with two or more postcolonial young adult novels. Your task is to find three professional, peer-reviewed journal articles and to synthesize the content in a twenty-minute class presentation. Information may be pulled from previous book club and blog posts as long as they show revised content.
The topic:
The topic should be one that interests you and that is relevant to your own personal and professional goals. We will discuss options at length in class, but I suggest that you peruse the websites of the following professional organizations:

· Why is this topic important to middle and high school students?
· Why is this topic important to you, and why did you choose it?
· What are the focal issues—in brief—that we need to know about this topic?
· What else would you like to learn about this topic?
· How is the topic connected to the novels?
· How can students affect change in the world based upon your topic?
Provide a handout for each class member containing an annotated bibliography of your three professional articles and highlights of the information presented.
Use a visual with components of technology to disseminate your information.
