Writing Portfolio
Overview:
As a future teacher, you will be asking your students to complete a variety of writing assignments. It is sound educational practice to be familiar with the subject of your lesson as well as the expectations you have for your students prior to giving an assignment.
Procedure:
- Compile a portfolio of poetry and prose assignments that were written exclusively for ENGL 4790 and that are distinctly different from each other.
- Take each prose piece through the drafting and revision process both on your own and during writing workshop time in class.
- Write a 1-2 page reflection about the final draft for each piece analyzing your strengths and weaknesses as a writer using the 6 +1 Traits of Writing, which traits are most exemplified in the writing? Which traits are harder to identify? You should also address your writing/revision process.
- Your portfolio will be submitted electronically using a web site such as weebly, wordpress, academia.edu, etc.
- Create a table of contents for your portfolio, noting the page numbers for each final draft.
